Labubu. Labubu. Labubu.
If I don't have your attention yet: Kpop Demon Hunter.
Still no? Speakeasy Arcade Bar. Tots Bar. Popcorn chicken bar. Bar bar. What's this about?
We have gotten access to an exclusive private arcade bar in San Francisco for our next special HH! It's two floors, not open to the public, and quite discrete if you find yourself walking by. You can't just go and visit it any time you want. You have to gain access. AND: like any good exclusive speakeasy, you'll have to know the code to get in.
We will be heading to Joey's Mission Arcade Bar in SF! All those games that you see at Thriller - Those are Joey's. He owns all of them. We're going to his privately owned place to drink, party, sing along to KPOP Demon Hunter, and give away Labubu's!!! It's all too much to talk about at once so here are the bullet points:
● Labubu Raffle - We will be raffling off a Labubu every hour! Buy a cocktail or shot. Get a raffle ticket! Must be present to win
● KPOP Demon Hunter - We will be filling the venue with KPOP Demon Hunter soundtrack vibes from 8pm-9pm!
● Tots bar - Their kitchen will be serving tots to order!
● Popcorn chicken bar - popcorn chicken also!
● Eric E-Tunes Chan rockin the turn tables for the rest of the night
● $5 wet your whistle game cards to start off, free
● Inviting friends is allowed!
This August HH we've got a couple firsts for you! Ready? Let's gooo:
1. Free welcome shot! Yes! For the first time ever, the first shot is on the house!
2. First time in outer Richmond! We're going end-to-end in the Bay. Earlier we were in South Bay. Now we're in the Richmond district for the first time ever! Want to have more out here? Make sure you go and prove it's a hot area for HHs
3. Karaoke rooms! 8 different ones! They'll be available for you to rent so you don't have to go to no Taisho afterwards. I know you all love karaoke.
4. And last but not least, our first time at a new spot: Izakaya Goemon! They'll have food and drink available and none other than Jane L is our bartender. This restaurant is expansive and labyrinth-like (I literally got lost inside) and has an expansive outdoor patio too. Here's hoping this will be the one day of the year the Richmond is not cloudy. Haha, right.
If you asked me last year. I would have smiled at you. Nodded. And let my mind drift off into another thought entirely, like how horrible the tech industry is. Ugh. Have HH in South Bay? Yeah - NO. First of all, I ain’t driving down there. Second of all, we don’t know the venues down there. Third of all, I will have to drive back. Drunk. But we’re doing it! Enough of you have requested. So let’s try this out! We somehow magically got one of the best venues in none other than Santana Row. One I could only have dreamed to have. It was meant to be. Welcome to our launch of HH in South Bay. In the afternoon on a Saturday no less. Welcome for the first South Bay Saturday HH at Straits!
It was fate. I swore we would not ever have a shot at Straits. They’re bigger than us. They have more important things to do. We have no connections there. They don’t care about a little SF HH group. And by some weird twist of fate, we got a contact. Then another twist of fate, I landed there when Willy asked me to give him and Annie a ride home. Third twist of fate, Whitney happened to be there, saw me, and tapped me on the shoulder. (We haven’t seen Whitney in a few years.) “I’m here with the owner” she said. This after the hostess even told me “no, the owner is not here.” After some convo, Annie buttering up one of the managers, getting a free set of bunny ears. And getting us a round of free drinks and a can of coffee. They welcomed us in, bypassing all their formal rules for a private event. Sometimes going in person is what it takes. No. All the time, going in person is all it takes. And a couple twists of fate like Whitney telling them we’re legit. This is your chance south bay. We’re finally heading to your hood. SFer’s it’s time to make a trip the sunny warm end of bay. Let’s spend the afternoon hanging at Straits, shopping in Santana Row, and enjoying the warmth that’s never in SF. Come out and make this a good one bc if it fails, then we may not ever have a south bay HH again. Show me there's a demand in south bay! Pressure’s on!
INVITING FRIENDS
Yes, this is vital. We need to fill up Straits for our first South Bay Saturday HH ever. Tell a South Bayer even if you’re not going to make it yourself. Do it now.
UPDATE:
Alright so we just got more details about this Grand Closing of Thriller. Though not all the juicy details. We know that Thriller's theme is changing. Check. They WILL be keeping their name. Check. Layout. Check. But will they be keeping their games? Not sure. New food? Probably. New drinks. Most likely. But interior design, furniture, wall decor, paint, all of that may change. Maybe even a mechanical bull? Think Westwood (bc the same owner has that spot too). So perhaps this is not a grand closing of Thriller afterall but more of a grand closing as-you-know-it! We also know that they will be swaying more towards a western theme too. So there's that.
In any case, this is your last chance to see Thriller as you know it! They'll remain open during their re-theming so is this necessarily the last you'll see of Thriller? Nah. But you should come today anyway bc it's HH.
Original Writeup:
In 2021, we threw their grand opening party. Four years later, we say goodbye to a venue that we knew and loved. It came too soon. Way too soon. But we get to see it one last time. Let's all gather as we say a fond goodbye as we throw their grand closing party. Come out to HH and see Thriller for one last time.
Our next event is a unique fancy Korean Steakhouse in Union Square! The place is on the smaller side but it's incredibly nice. They've asked us to fill them up with one of our events and enjoy some dinner! So come on out and feel free to gather a group together to get dinner - or just come and grab a few shots, I mean drinks. Note, you can still order food off the happy hour menu if you don't reserve a table.
- We have a limited number of spots open for this (50)
- Happy hour menu will be extended to 9:00pm
- We are taking dinner reservations for tables! If you want a table, make a ressy here: https://forms.gle/PXeM7tNDKq7DS8VL8
- Dress Code: Suits and Blazers. Men, you need to wear a suit or a blazer for this (blazer + jeans is easy enough come on)
- Closing time - They'll stay open past their usual closing time of 9:00pm as long as it's poppin and drinks are flowin. Let's keep drinking and keep them going all night.

We just had a free bowling event. Now we have another casual sports HH activity. It's a brand new bar in town. And it's got a theme that SF hasn't seen yet. And chances are, you haven't played it before at all. DARTS! We've been invited especially by the owner who is a close friend of ours) to host the grand opening party of the newest bar in SF! And he's giving us some free lanes to try it out all night long. It's been a while since we've done a grand opening party. So it's about time, once again, to welcome all of you to our special grand opening party of Golden Eye Social!
VENUE
You probably didn't know Osha had a location on 2nd street back in the day. Well it did. And it was pretty quiet. If you had been there, you'll remember the long corridor-esque shape that was their dining room. It wasn't exactly the best flow in the world. But knock down a few walls , build a new bar recover a bunch of square footage and viola. You've got an incredibly huge space to have half a dozen lanes of darts with enough room to swallow up three HH's. Yeah. It's pretty big.
FOOD
Everyone tells me the food is amazing there. I tried it and yes, it's many cuts above bar food for sure! Come with an empty stomach and try out some of their english (bc darts, right?) inspired plates!
INVITING FRIENDS
Golden Eye is HUGE. So yes. We've got plenty of room for friends!
LOCATION
Right next to Spin. Fitting right? Ping pong and darts less than a block away from each other.
SPECIALS
The JF - Just Friends? Or The Jon Fong? You may never know that answer but all that matters is that it's our drink special of the night at $2 off regular cocktail prices!
